The Firelands Falcons boys wrestling team soared high on Saturday finishing 4th out 12 team in the Edison Invitational. The Falcon’s Payton Burgdorf (113) and Sean Lipscomb (285) were the teams lone champions, while senior Tyler Bennett (220) finished 3rd, senior Connor Eckman (120) finished 4th, junior Eric Defranco (145) finished 5th, junior Charlie Yonts (132) finished 6th, and senior Garrett Tester (195) finished 6th as well.
Burgdorf captured the tournament’s ‘Most Valuable Wrestler Award’ as he handily defeated Edison’s Ray Adams- (who took 7th in the State in 2017) by a score of 9-3. Lipscomb was probably the most dominant wrestler in the entire tournament, winning 4 matches by pin, and 1 match by a major decision of 8-0.
The Falcons continue their journey towards Columbus, with a trip to the Fricker’s Duals Tournament in Defiance, Ohio on December 15-16th.
